Ravens inactives list for Week 1 game against Chiefs (updated)
By Matt Sidney
The Baltimore Ravens are on the road tonight in Kansas City to take on the back-to-back Super Bowl Champion Kansas City Chiefs. Both teams come into the season with postseason prowess and expectations, setting up an interesting 2023 AFC Championship game rematch.
Kansas City won last year in large part due to the Ravens struggling to advance the ball or maintain possession. The Ravens must come into this game with a strategy on how to contain Superman himself, Patrick Mahomes. They must make the Chiefs one-dimensional and the less the ball is in Mahomes' hands, the better for the Ravens.
The Ravens are without third-round rookie OLB Adisa Isaac for tonight.
Ravens vs. Chiefs inactives list Week 1: Rookie third-round pick is out
Week 1 will showcase two relatively healthy teams. It's crucial to emerge from the offseason and preseason without injuries. The Ravens will be without rookie third-round OLB Adisa Isaac for the matchup. He's been dealing with a hamstring injury. The Chiefs will be without Marquise 'Hollywood' Brown as he recovers from a shoulder injury.
Rookie speedster Xavier Worthy figures to get most of Brown's reps tonight. Meanwhile, Odafe Oweh, David Ojabo, and Kyle Van Noy will be the featured OLBs for the Ravens.
Ravens inactives
- OLB Adisa Isaac
- OL Malaesala Aumavae-Laulu
- S Beau Brade
- C Nick Samac
- CB T.J. Tampa
- DE Brent Urban
- WR Devontez Walker
Chiefs inactives
- WR Hollywood Brown
- OL CJ Hanson
- OT Ethan Driskell
- TE Peyton Hendershot
- DT Marlon Tuipulotu
The Ravens have the opportunity to come out in Week 1 and start the season by stealing a win in Kansas City. The pass-rush will need to be there to make Mahomes uncomfortable, so losing a depth piece like Adisa Isaac isn't ideal, but it's also not the end of the world. The Ravens have Oweh, Ojabo, and Van Noy to give Mahomes all he can handle.
This won't be an easy game. It's Week 1 and the opponent is the Kansas City Chiefs, the team that eliminated us from the playoffs last year. Emotions will be worn on sleeves tonight. It's disappointing that Isaac won't be playing. In the second preseason game against the Falcons, he appeared to be getting comfortable with pass-rushing situations. He could have been a valuable substitute tonight in those situations.
