Ravens Rumors: 4 last minute running back trades to make
By Ryan Heckman
The Baltimore Ravens continue to look like one of the top teams in football this year, behind the stellar play from quarterback Lamar Jackson.
It's been Jackson, wide reciever Zay Flowers and tight end Mark Andrews as the stars of the show. Although, in Week 8, the Ravens did get a great rushing performance out of Gus Edwards, who ran for 80 yards and three scores.
Since J.K. Dobbins went down, it's been Edwards and Justice Hill as the primary backs. But, the Ravens could afford to find another back to come in and compliment the back field.
With Tuesday's trade deadline coming quickly, these are some last-minute deals Baltimore could make.
1. Antonio Gibson, Commanders
This one might actually be the best fit, overall. With the Ravens using Edwards as a smashmouth type back, they have also tried working in Hill as the change of pace. If Washington was willing to part with Antonio Gibson, then he'd give the Ravens even more juice as the change of pace next ot Edwards.
For some reason, Washington and Gibson just haven't worked out. The relationship seems severed, and I would bet the Commanders would take what they can get for him. Gibson is a back that can do it all, possessing good speed, the ability to catch the ball and shifty moves in space. He likely needs a change of scenery, though, as Washington's back-and-forth relationship with him has probably done some damage.
Gibson would pair nicely with Edwards as a one-two punch and a couple of guys with different strengths. His speed in the open field and ability to shine in the passing game could come into play in a big way. In his fourth season now, Gibson has nearly 2,500 rushing yards and over 1,000 receiving yards.
