The Baltimore Ravens are finally back from their bye week and about to play football again next weekend as part of Week 14 of the NFL regular season. They will be hosting the Los Angeles Rams at the M&T Bank Stadium with the kick-off scheduled for 1 p.m. ET on Sunday.

Not only will the Ravens as a whole host the Los Angeles Rams for the first and lone time this season, but this matchup will also mark Odell Beckham Jr.'s first time going against his former team since he played for the Rams in the 2021 campaign on his way to winning the Super Bowl LVI in Feb. 2022 with the bittersweetness of tearing his ACL then and there.

In a candid move and as a sign of respect, Ravens head coach John Harbaugh announced a special plan for wide receiver Odell Beckham when he and the Ravens face the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday: OBJ will serve as the captain of Baltimore for the upcoming game.

As Harbaugh told reporters following Wednesday's practice, the designation will grant Beckham the opportunity to participate in the coin toss right before kick-off in the matchup against his former team and the one he helped to win their second Super Bowl after the merger.

"[Beckham] is a heck of a football player,” Harbaugh said. "He draws a lot of attention. He’s making plays. I think he’s really coming into his own health-wise right now and getting stronger and faster."

Those comments have to do with OBJ's slow start to the season when he was looking a bit disappointing considering the hefty deal the Ravens signed him to earlier this year in free agency. After a few weeks of play and after dealing with some injury issues, however, OBJ has steadily become one of the best playmakers on the team.

"It’s a big road back from where he had to come from and you see it every week," added Harbaugh. This season with the Ravens, the three-time Pro Bowler has already hauled in 27 passes for 408 yards and two touchdowns.

Back when he was playing on the West Coast a couple of years ago, Beckham contributed to the Rams' success also for the biggest part in the latter part of the 2021 season, playing a pivotal role in the postseason and in the Super Bowl before leaving the game with his ACL injury.

Beckham appeared in all four postseason games with the Rams in the 2021 season playoffs, grabbing 21 passes out of 25 targets for 288 receiving yards and two touchdowns, including one in the big game against the Bengals.
