This NFL season, the Baltimore Ravens will honor two significant figures, Jacoby Jones and Joe D’Alessandris, with special helmet decals. The two passed away during the 2024 offseason.

The team unveiled new helmet decals that players will wear to honor the late great Ravens legends on Tuesday. The decal will be placed on the back of the helmet, just above each player's number, and will feature "Joe D" and "Jacoby 12" to honor the men.

Jacoby Jones passed away in his sleep on July 14, three days after his 40th birthday. The cause was hypertensive cardiovascular disease—heart disease linked to prolonged high blood pressure. Jones was a pivotal player for the Ravens during their 2012 Super Bowl victory.

He famously returned a kickoff 108 yards for a touchdown in Super Bowl XLVII, the longest in the event’s history. Post-retirement, he coached wide receivers at Alabama State.

Joe "Joe D" D’Alessandris, the Ravens’ offensive line coach since 2017, died on August 25 at 70, due to complications from a recent surgery. D’Alessandris became part of the Ravens’ coaching staff in 2017, bringing with him over four decades of experience as a coach at both the college level and in the NFL.

"Hopefully those helmet tags of Jacoby Jones and Joe D'Alessandris help to serve as a reminder to all of us that it's about the people. It's about the people in your life that you share this time on Earth with. Treat them right, cherish them, celebrate them, love them, and remember them."

Head Coach John Harbaugh

As the season unfolds, these decals will not only commemorate past achievements but also inspire current players and fans. They act as a bridge connecting different generations, celebrating the legacy and ongoing story of the Baltimore Ravens.

This initiative highlights the importance of remembering and cherishing the contributions of individuals who have significantly impacted the team, ensuring that their legacies inspire future generations and continue to resonate within the community.

As the Baltimore Ravens don helmets featuring the names of Jacoby Jones and Joe D this season, they’ll carry more than just the legacy of two greats; they’ll embody the spirit of dedication and heart that both men represented.

These decals, a simple yet powerful tribute, ensure that their stories of perseverance and triumph echo every time the Ravens take to the field.
