Bench: RB Gus Edwards (BAL)

See, I get it. It's going to be a rainy game and the Ravens only have one true RB1 in their backfield for the first time in ages today following the season-ending injury of J.K. Dobbins and the turf toe suffered by Justice Hill ruling him out Sunday... BUT.

The Ravens have Lamar Jackson in the pocket and Lamar knows how to cook Indy or whoever tries to stop him on his track when scrambling. The Ravens might run the rock abundantly, but Baltimore has always used a running-back-by-committee approach to their backfield no matter who's been part of it.

Edwards won't be alone, mind you, as veteran rusher Melvin Gordon and former (2022) Ravens RB Kenyan Drake were activated ahead of Week 3 and will take snaps too. Edwards has not carried the ball more than 16 times since 2019, and he topped at that figure while doing it just twice in 2022.

Yes, the possibilities are enticing, but Edwards has never had an explosive game as to consider him a lock to produce no matter the context he finds himself in. Edwards' best-ever PPR tally fell short of reaching 20 fantasy points, and he's topped 15 PPR points just five times in his career (only once after 2020).

Edwards might end up getting a couple of goal-line touches and scoring two touchdowns... or he might suffer another Week 1-type outcome in which one of Gordon/Drake gets those touches and he ends up with more totes and yards but a paltry fantasy tally.
