Robert Griffin III knows what's good about Ravens' winning streak
Last weekend marked a historic day in Baltimore Ravens lore as the Flock went on to defeat the Philadelphia Eagles 20-19 on their way to winning a 24th consecutive preseason game.
Nobody in the history of the NFL had done it before, and most probably nobody will do it in the future because it's such an astonishing feat that it will be mighty hard to repeat.
Former Ravens quarterback and current ESPN analyst Robert Griffin III offered his thoughts about it a few days ago on his personal Twitter.
"The Ravens’ NFL Record 24 STRAIGHT PRESEASON WINS IN A ROW isn’t meaningless,” he wrote.
Most people out there have been mocking the Ravens and their fans for making a big deal of such a "meaningless" feat, but RG3 doesn't think that should be the case. In fact, he explained that statement next in his message.
For Griffin, winning so many mid-summer preparatory games in a row is "a testament to the depth on the roster and great coaching."
Baltimore has been coached by current HC John Harbaugh since he arrived ahead of the 2008 season. The ongoing winning streak of the Ravens started in 2016, as the Flock has not lost a preseason game since Sep. 2015 when they fell to the Falcons back then.
Griffin also thinks that the Ravens are in a prime position to keep their winning ways going through the regular season and toward another Super Bowl run, as they did back in 2012 when they hoisted the Lombardi Trophy for the second time in franchise history.
"This year they finally have the pieces in place around Lamar Jackson to bring a Super Bowl back to B-More,” Griffin finished.
Griffin was a member of the Ravens from 2018 through 2020, starting preseason games in the first of those campaigns. He appeared in four preseason games in 2018 starting two of those matchups and claiming victories all times he stepped onto the field along with his teammates.
