Will it be Revenge Day for Ravens cornerback facing his former franchise?

Ravens' nickelback Arthur Maulet, formerly with the Steelers, gears up for Week 5 facing his former team. Prioritizing a win over revenge, he emphasizes a focused 1-0 record mindset.

The Ravens signed veteran free agent cornerback Arthur Maulet ahead of training camp last July. Maulet, however, couldn't feature throughout the month of August in any of the preseason games played by the flock due to injury.

Maulet has barely made his debut for Baltimore appearing in two games already but defending just 47 snaps (along with 25 on special-team plays). He's more than ready to face his former franchise this weekend, though, a date he's had "circled on his calendar" for a while.

Maulet, enjoying his first couple of months with the Ravens, was released by the Steelers last season after he couldn't agree to a deal worth his value with the Pittsburgh brass.

On Wednesday, Melissa Y. Kim of 105.7 The Fan spoke with Maulet about the upcoming matchup against his former team.

Judging by Maulet's words, he's past any type of revengeful approach to his meeting with Pittsburgh. “I have nothing special. No special thoughts,” Maulet said.

The nickel corner added that he's just focused on winning, saying the Steelers are "just in the way of what we need to do," and boiling everything down "to take over the division."

Maulet acknowledged that the Week 5 game "is a big rivalry," but he kept things easy saying "We're just trying to go 1-0" against the Steelers, which is actually all the Ravens can do on Sunday looking at the matchup in the coldest and most factual possible way.

During the recent game against Cleveland, Maulet covered 65% of defensive snaps (h/t Clifton Brown) at nickel cornerback. This was Maulet's first true game played this season after getting eased into action in the Week 3 loss against Indianapolis.

Maulet also talked about his most recent outing, saying "It was definitely a weight off my shoulders," after completing the rehabbing process following his hamstring injury. "I've been working my butt off to get healthy, and I'm finally getting to the spot of being 100%. I was grateful to be out there," Maulet finished.

Maulet's focus seems to align with the Ravens' one as a team, and everybody is locked into winning another one this weekend to clinch that terrific 4-1 record with five weeks gone so the postseason starts to look like a lock.
