Ravens fans should enjoy Steelers trying to sink their own ship with QB change
The Baltimore Ravens crawled their way out of an 0-2 hole and now sit at 4-2 after ripping off four straight wins. They're tied at the top of the AFC North with the Pittsburgh Steelers, who have gotten to 4-2 with Justin Fields at quarterback.
Well, for whatever reason, the Steelers are now benching Fields and making the switch to Russell Wilson. Pittsburgh brought both quarterbacks in over the offseason with the original plan being to start Wilson and have Fields serve as the backup.
After an injury sidelined Wilson early on and Fields performed decently, the Steelers rode the hot hand. Now, however, they're considering putting Wilson in despite Fields throwing for 1,106 yards, five touchdowns, and one pick and rushing for 231 yards and another five touchdowns. Make it make sense.
Actually, for Ravens fans, it doesn't have to make sense. Let the Steelers sink their own ship. It'll make it that much easier for Baltimore to cruise to another AFC North title.
Steelers might make puzzling quarterback decision despite 4-2 start
If the season ended right now, the Ravens would win the AFC North and would be the three-seed in the playoffs. The Steelers would also be in the postseason, sitting as the five-seed and would play the Bills in Buffalo for the Wild Card round while the Ravens would host the Chargers.
It's important for the Ravens to obviously keep winning but also for the Steelers to start acting more like the Steelers and losing a few more games. The Steelers haven't suffered a losing season in over 20 years so they'll be in the thick of things but if they want to throw a wrench into their already successful season, by all means, let them do just that.
Any advantage another team wants to give you down the stretch is not something to scoff at so if the Steelers want to move off a quarterback who has helped them win games, go for it. The Ravens just need to keep taking care of business and winning the games in front of them while hoping the rest of their division rivals continue to lose in embarrassing fashion.
