The Baltimore Ravens found their franchise quarterback in the 2018 NFL Draft, selecting Lamar Jackson at the end of the first round. Meanwhile, the Cleveland Browns have cycled through 12 different starting quarterbacks since then. It's been pure entertainment for Ravens fans and even though it feels like it can't get any funnier, it very well could.
Michael Holley of NBC Sports made a prediction that, if it came true, would be music to Ravens fans' ears. Holley predicted that Kenny Pickett, who the Browns recently traded for, could actually be the starting quarterback for Cleveland when the 2025 regular season gets underway in September.
"You want to talk about the answer already in the building? It's already in the building. Kenny Pickett," Holley said. "Kenny Pickett will start for the Browns because they're the Browns. They're not going to make a wise decision."
Kenny Pickett starting at QB for Browns would be pure comedy for Ravens fans
Ravens fans are familiar with Pickett because he was the Pittsburgh Steelers' first-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft and appeared in 25 games for them in a two-year span. The Steelers shipped him to Philadelphia last year and he backed up Jalen Hurts and even got to play in the Eagles' Super Bowl win.
That being said, Pickett being a team's plan at starting quarterback is an interesting choice. Perhaps the Browns still opt to draft a quarterback second overall but even if they do, Holley seems to think that Pickett will at least start the regular season as Cleveland's quarterback. For what it's worth, Holley said that he thinks the Browns should take Colorado's Shedeur Sanders with the second pick but noted that he doesn't think that's what will play out.
If Pickett ends up being the Browns' starting quarterback at the beginning of the 2025 season, Ravens fans are going to have a field day. Hopefully the two teams play each other during that time so Baltimore can take full advantage of the situation.
