This offseason, the Baltimore Ravens have done everything in their power to ensure 2026 will look completely different from 2025. The two main problems last season were coaching and pass rush. Two months after the end of their 2025 campaign, they seem to have fixed both of those issues.
The Ravens hired Jesse Minter as head coach, and more recently, they made a significant addition to their defensive front, signing Trey Hendrickson to a four-year, $112 million deal. The defense has been a clear point of emphasis, and they’re likely not done.
Baltimore was looking to form a monstrous pass rush duo between Maxx Crosby and Hendrickson. The Crosby trade ultimately fell through, but the front office should remain active to find another edge rusher. A free agent who could make sense is Jadeveon Clowney, who has already proven he can get the job done in Charm City.
Baltimore Ravens should seek out underrated free agent in Jadeveon Clowney
The Ravens need more sack-getters, and Clowney knows exactly how to bring down the quarterback. While he may not have ever reached the heights that many expected him to as a highly-touted prospect out of South Carolina in 2014, he’s put together quite the career for himself. He has 66.5 career sacks over 12 seasons.
At 33 years old, Clowney has showcased that Father Time can’t catch up to him. He’s had some of the best seasons in his 30s, most recently in 2025, where he totaled 8.5 sacks with the Dallas Cowboys. Two years ago, he was producing at that level as a Baltimore Raven.
Clowney is one of the many veteran pass rushers who found the Fountain of Youth when taking flight to Baltimore late in their careers. In his lone season with the Ravens in 2023, Clowney posted 9.5 sacks and 19 QB hits. He’s continued to keep pace with that kind of production, which could point to a Baltimore reunion this offseason if the front office is up for it.
General manager Eric DeCosta recently mentioned that they’re likely done making big splashes in free agency, but they’re also still looking for pass rush help. Clowney would be a very solid starting-caliber option who shouldn’t cost too much.
According to Spotrac, Clowney is expected to sign a deal worth around $5.7 million for one year. Baltimore should comfortably have that money, and then some. If the market for Clowney is at all competitive, they should be able to overpay just a bit if they’re that serious about pairing Trey Hendrickson with another proven piece.
The Ravens’ outside linebacker room already looks really solid. Trey Hendrickson is obviously going to do damage, Tavius Robinson is a very good football player, and Mike Green is set for a second-year leap after some encouraging signs in 2025. However, you can never have too many pass rushers, and Clowney would be the perfect piece to round out the position unit.
