The New York Jets are back in the hunt for a head coach after firing Robert Saleh, who posted a 20-36 record in four seasons. With quarterback Aaron Rodgers' future in doubt and GM Joe Douglas on shaky ground, the Jets are searching for someone to finally unlock the potential of one of their most talented rosters in years. And it looks like they could eye Baltimore Ravens offensive coordinator Todd Monken as a potential solution.

Monken has quickly emerged as a top head coaching candidate, with his name being mentioned alongside other rising stars like Detroit’s Ben Johnson and Houston’s Bobby Slowik. After leading the Georgia Bulldogs to two national titles, Monken took over Baltimore’s offense in 2023 and immediately revamped the unit.

The Ravens jumped from 16th to 6th in total yards and from 19th to 4th in scoring in his first season. This year, they’ve only gotten better, leading the league in yards and ranking second in points.

The Jets could poach Todd Monken away from the Ravens

The Jets, who have struggled offensively since Rodgers went down, could view Monken as the key to turning things around. His balanced, innovative approach has been a breath of fresh air in Baltimore, helping quarterback Lamar Jackson thrive and bring stability to an offense that had been one-dimensional for years.

For the Ravens, losing Monken would be a huge blow. His arrival sparked a major offensive resurgence, and his system has played a big part in keeping Baltimore competitive despite a shaky defense. But as we’ve seen before, the best coordinators often get poached, and Monken’s growing reputation makes him a prime target for teams like the Jets.

While the Jets can’t interview Monken until the Ravens’ season is over, the speculation alone is enough to raise concerns in Baltimore. The Ravens are no strangers to losing top coaches, with former DC Mike Macdonald leaving for a head coaching job with Seattle last offseason. If Monken follows suit, Baltimore will return to square one, searching for someone to keep their offense firing on all cylinders.

For now, this remains a future concern, but it’s a situation to watch closely as the season progresses. Monken’s success is undeniable, and it’s only a matter of time before he gets his shot at a head coaching job. Whether that comes with the Jets or another team, the Ravens will have to brace for the possibility of losing him.
