Recent comments on Derrick Henry show that Ravens fans have nothing to worry about

As the Baltimore Ravens prepare for the 2026 season, the team should be excited that they still have one of the league’s best running backs in Derrick Henry.

The Baltimore Ravens have entered a new era by putting together a new coaching staff, but the team will continue to lean on the same players on the field. Offensively, that means a lot of Lamar Jackson and Derrick Henry.

Some people have questioned if that’s still a sustainable plan, because Jackson is a dual-threat quarterback entering his ninth season, and Henry is a 32-year old running back. However, Baltimore’s opponents are making it clear that Ravens fans have nothing to worry about, especially when it comes to Henry.

ESPN recently released its top 10 running backs for 2026, as part of the annual position rankings done by execs, coaches, and scouts, and Henry was ranked No. 6 on the list. While that was four spots down from his No. 2 ranking a year ago, voters argued that Henry isn’t going anywhere soon.

Derrick Henry is expected to remain dominant for the Baltimore Ravens

One veteran defensive coach said Henry “hasn’t really slowed down, to be honest,” before emphasizing that the Baltimore running back is still a major problem to deal with.

"He hasn't really slowed down, to be honest, at least from what I've seen. You can knock him because he's not the pass threat the others are. But he's still a major problem. Guy takes care of himself like no other."

That’s exactly what Ravens fans want to hear. One of the knocks on running backs is that they have a short shelf life, but Henry is making it clear that’s not the case for him. Despite being a physical running back, who has averaged 296 carries in his 10 seasons, Henry is in a great condition to keep rolling.

That was evident last season, when the running back carried the ball 307 times for 1,595 yards and 16 touchdowns, while also catching 15 passes for another 150 yards.

The lone problem for the running back was fumbles, while he only had four on the season, they came in costly moments. However, that isn’t an indication that he’s fallen off, it just means that’s a part of his game that he has to clean up.

Aside from that, Henry, at 32 years old and in year 11, seems like he’s ready to be as dominant as he’s always been, and the Ravens have to be happy about that.
