Baltimore Ravens rookie Adam Randall has a unique skill set. The wide receiver turned running back, of course, has clear upside as a pass-catching and third-down back. And at 6-foot-3, 232 pounds, he's built similarly to Derrick Henry. This rare blend of size, strength, and receiving skill gives Randall plenty of upside.
He has just a year of experience under his belt playing RB. Thankfully, Randall was super productive during his final year at Clemson, notching 814 rushing yards and 10 touchdowns. Randall's size and strength undoubtedly make him a difficult player to tackle. Learning from Henry should certainly help him too. Now, he might take some time to grow given his lack of experience at the position. Regardless, Randall's upside is clear.
And as a situational back, the fifth-round pick could earn a real role. Behind Derrick Henry, there's a lot of uncertainty in the Ravens' running back room. Justice Hill and Rasheen Ali are Randall's main competition for the RB2 role. With all due respect, this gives Randall a clear path to earning the RB2 job.

Jesse Minter and company could roll with these veterans. Still, after a down season from Hill and with Ali being unproven, there could be some open snaps in the Ravens' backfield. Randall could thrive in a role similar to Hill's as a pass-catcher, and his size should also make him a sturdy pass-protector.
Considering this and that Randall showcased his upside at training camp, don't be surprised if he ends up earning a role in the Ravens' offense.
Look, Henry will get the lion's share of snaps (and rightfully so, of course). But the Ravens shouldn't overtax the 32-year-old, and every team these days utilizes multiple running backs. Likewise, the Ravens need to find a dependable backup for Henry.
And there's a real chance that Randall proves to be the team's best backup option. If all things go right, he essentially could be a bigger and stronger version of Hill. Having a pass-catching back would be an ideal complement to Henry.
Recently, Minter praised Randall for his impact at training camp and general versatility.
“He's good out of the backfield, obviously with his receiver background.... I’m really pleased with how he’s done. He has a lot of versatility," Minter said.
Minter's positive comments paired with some of the positive buzz around Randall in training camp could set up a runway for him to have a sizable role.
Declan Doyle's system is centered around unpredictability and explosive plays. In addition to his pass-catching abilities and size, Randall has blazing top-end speed. By all accounts, this should make him an ideal fit in Doyle's system, which, on top of everything else, bodes well for his RB2 chances.
Randall could quickly establish himself as a fan favorite if he earns a regular role in the offense as a rookie, and this possibility is starting to feel fairly likely.
