After the Baltimore Ravens had the pleasure of ending the Pittsburgh Steelers' 2024 season, it left the Steelers with a ton of question marks at the quarterback position. It must have been hard enough for Steelers fans to watch Kenny Pickett, their former first-round quarterback, not only play in a Super Bowl (albeit not as the starter) but to win one as well.
Now the Steelers have to, once again, go back to the drawing board after the Russell Wilson/Justin Fields experiment didn't go well in Pittsburgh. They're exploring all options with the latest one reportedly being to try and pry Trevor Lawrence from Jacksonville to Pittsburgh.
Steelers are trying to swing for the fences in stacked AFC North
This, of course, is humorous for Ravens fans to witness because it's unlikely this trade would happen. Even if it did, Lawrence has not proven to be the franchise-saver that many thought he'd be for Jacksonville when the Jaguars spent the first overall pick on him in 2021.
Since going number one overall four years ago, Lawrence has started 60 games and has a 22-38 record. While records aren't necessarily a quarterback stat, the former Clemson star has not lived up to the lofty expectations placed on him. The Jaguars have only made the playoffs once since Lawrence has been their quarterback and after exceeding expectations in 2022, Jacksonville fell back into irrelevancy.
More Ravens news:
If that's the guy the Steelers want to bring in and have start at quarterback for them, maybe it wouldn't be the worst move for the Ravens and the rest of the AFC North. They'd be trading for an unproven quarterback and would have to give up a lot of loot to make the deal happen, not to mention taking on Lawrence's massive contract that he signed last year.
As Ravens fans can sit back and relax knowing they have Lamar Jackson under contract for the next three years, the Steelers are still scrambling to find a suitable quarterback. If they overspend on Lawrence, Ravens fans will have an absolute field day.
