The Baltimore Ravens do not need any more weapons on offense. They had one of the best seasons of any offense in NFL history in 2024, and there are endless weapons at quarterback Lamar Jackson’s disposal.
The wide receiver and tight end rooms run deep with various pass catchers, the running back depth supplies endless talent, and the offensive line cemented itself as a top-10 unit last year. Even fullback Patrick Ricard contributes as a lethal blocker in the running game. However, there are always ways to improve the team, and do-it-all playmaker Taysom Hill could add an extra dimension to this dangerous offense.
Alex Kay of Bleacher Report listed five potential cut candidates ahead of the 2025 season who would generate interest from several teams. The New Orleans Saints’ weapon was among those listed, and while he is still recovering from his torn ACL if Baltimore somehow got their hands on him, the team would be unfair.
“The cash-strapped Saints may find it more palatable to get both salary cap relief–New Orleans would receive $10 million in cap savings in exchange for $8 million in dead money–and roster space for youthful talent under new head coach Kellen Moore, while a contending team willing to be patient with Hill’s recovery could still benefit from signing the dynamic weapon,” Kay wrote.
Taysom Hill could unlock endless possibilities in Baltimore
Hill can do it all. New Orleans lined him up in pretty much any way possible. Hill could get it done whenever and wherever, from quarterback to running back to receiver. With such versatility, he seems like the perfect candidate to add to offensive coordinator Todd Monken’s offense.
Over his eight-year career, Hill has been a consistent red zone threat. In 2024, he was a powerful runner, finding the end zone six times and catching 23 passes for 187 yards in just eight games. He has also provided above-average blocking abilities when called upon.
Hill also has a history of being a passing threat. He was a quarterback at BYU, and some of that has translated to the NFL level. Though he has not seen as many passing attempts as in the 2020 and 2021 seasons, Hill has flashed that he can still be a competent passer. This Swiss Army Knife-like ability would allow Baltimore to present defense different types of packages and keep them guessing.
While adding a player like Hill could be overboard and unnecessary, it would add a dynamic scoring threat every time the offense enters the red zone. For an offense that focuses on efficiency in that area–they led the NFL with a 73.9% touchdown percentage in the red zone in 2024–Hill would be what the doctor ordered.
