Ravens Acquire CB Josh Wilson
Sorry folks, the noticeable lack of posting is due to time crunch issues, but we’re back tonight with some exciting news. The Ravens have acquired cornerback Josh Wilson from the Seattle Seahawks in exchange for a 2011 draft pick that has not been agreed upon as of this moment. In all likelihood, it will turn out to be a conditional draft pick, meaning that based on Wilson’s performance this season, a logical pick would be traded back to the Seahawks. After losing Domonique Foxworth to a torn ACL, having Walt Harris placed on IR, and waiting for Lardarius Webb to [...]
Preseason Week 3: Ravens vs Giants Live
What’s up, Ravens fans? The team’s third preseason game will kick off tonight at 7:30 EST, and we’ll have live updates here, after the jump.
Guessing The Starters: Special Teams
So, we’ve guessed the starting lineups for offense and defense in the past few days, so to finish up this three-part series, it’s time to guess the special teams unit. Just like the previous two units, we’ll have the “Projection”, the player who I believe the coaching staff will select, and then “My Pick”, the player I would choose if I had the power to do so. For many of the positions, these will be the same player, so don’t adjust your glasses thinking you’re seeing double. To go with the picks, I’ll explain my thought process. Projections after the [...]
Guessing The Starters: Defense
Welcome to our second edition of “Guessing The Starters”, where we guess the Ravens’ starting lineup for this season. Two days ago, it was the offense, now it’s the Ravens’ vaunted defense that you read about in your mythology books. Oddly enough, because of injuries and the like, the defense isn’t being regarded as the deity-like unit it’s been in the past. For each position, you’ll see three different categories. One is the “Projection”, which is the player that I think will start when all is said and done. The other is “My Pick”, which is the player who I’d [...]
“Why Didn’t I Do It? Fantasy Football.”
Yes, it’s the age-old excuse. I didn’t do my work because of fantasy football. In this case, it wasn’t making a sale or formatting an excel spreadsheet in an office cubicle. In this particular case, this curious case of a Ravens blogger, my work was to fantasize about football by guessing the Ravens’ starters on defense this season. So yeah, my fantasy was ruined by my fantasy. Or is it the other way around? Wanna find out how my draft went? Oh, you don’t? Well read past the jump anyways.
Guessing The Starters: Offense
Instead of posting the wide receiver preview today, we’ll switch gears to a little bit less wordy, more interesting thing, the starting lineup. After half of the preseason games have been played, it’s a good time to begin to speculate and argue about who should and will start. Just five seconds ago, I was thinking about which way I should go with this post. Should I do it the way that I think it should be, or the way it might turn out when the Ravens’ coaching staff makes the call? Well, I didn’t make a decision. I’ll put two [...]
The Messiah Returns! Lardarius Webb Taken Off PUP List
The day of celebration has come! Early this morning, cornerback Lardarius Webb (left) was taken off the PUP (physically unable to perform) list, and passed his conditioning test with ease. After tearing his ACL in Week 15 against the Chicago Bears, Webb has traveled down the long, winding road of recovery and has finally arrived at the destination. More information about the injury and what Webb brings back to the Ravens’ secondary after the jump.
2010 Ravens Preview: Fullback
After a Sunday break, our season preview series returns, as we take a look at a position that it lighter on numbers, but still has a huge impact on an offense. Most teams carry two fullbacks, and the Ravens should be no different this season, with one perennial Pro Bowler and one undrafted free agent who’s playing fullback for the first time in his football career. Read on for the full positional preview.
2010 Ravens Preview: Halfback
The Ravens are a team that has historically run the ball well. It used to be Priest Holmes, then Jamal Lewis, and now Ray Rice and Willis McGahee are the duo that makes the Ravens a very dangerous team on the ground. Both backs have the ability to run the ball downhill effectively, but their versatility is their main weapon. Rice and McGahee both turn the corner well and are both elite receivers of the ball out of the backfield. Full positional preview after the jump.
Preseason Week 2: Ravens vs Redskins Preview
After a 17-12 win over the Carolina Panthers last week, the Ravens look to continue their winning ways of this preseason against the local rivals. The Washington Redskins host the Ravens at FedEx Field after winning their first preseason matchup by a nice, comfortable score of 42-17 over the Buffalo Bills. The Ravens are fighting the ongoing injury battle this week, as they have been since training camp kicked off earlier this month. While a win isn’t imperative, the coaching staff hopes that the team’s backups and role players can step up and show that they can be adequate replacements [...]
