Monday Evening Quarterback
Let me just start off by saying this: What a hell of a game and statement made by the Ravens. This was the first win for the Ravens over a legitimate playoff contender since beating the Ben Rothelisberger-less Pittsburgh Steelers all the way back in week 4. On this edition of “Monday Evening Quarterback”, I will be addressing what the Ravens did differently to beat the defending champs, aspects to their game that have been missing for much of the season. The first thing I would like to address is the outstanding play-calling of both Offensive Coordinator Cam Cameron and [...]
Merry X-Mas BMore: Reactions to Ravens Win over Saints
In case you missed it, the Baltimore Ravens made a statement today as they defeated the defending Super Bowl Champion New Orleans Saints, 30-24. In a physical bout with a playoff game aura, the Baltimore Ravens took the lead early, and fought hard to hold on. With this win the the Ravens advance to a 10-4 record, virtually clinching a Wild Card playoff birth and keeping the hopes of a 2010 AFC North Championship alive. (If the Ravens win out and the Steelers lose to the Browns in the final game of the year, the Ravens take the division and the [...]
Well, after a four-month leave of absence from the “Bird”, I’m back. Readers of ebonybird.com, I, Justin Silberman, would just like to take this time to thank of all you who followed me throughout the summer and followed my daily posts during training camp, “Straight Outta Westminster”. I would like to announce that I will be re-joining Ebonybird for the remainder of the season and will be helping out the new head of the blog, Casey “Finbro” Durkin. I would like to take this moment to thank the former head of the blog, Joe Barnes for bringing me on-board in [...]
May I Introduce Myself…
Dear EbonyBird Readers, As many of you now know, Ebony Bird mainstay and lead blogger, Joe Barnes has stepped down. Joe was an excellent writer, a great person to work under, and I know he will be sincerely missed. Under his tutelage I learned a lot and now I think I am ready to take over. My name is Casey Durkin. I will be your lead blogger, and I hope to continue a pattern of excellence that has been set out by Joe. I am working on getting some extra help so there will be daily posts because I understand [...]
It Was Fun While It Lasted…
It is with a fair amount of sadness that I make this announcement, but all good things must come to an end, right? This will be my last post on EbonyBird.com. After exactly two years, 490 posts, 44 Ravens games to write about, and many friends made, I’m leaving the site that has held my sometimes sloppy, mostly average, and almost-never brilliant thoughts and writings from the last two years. When I took over the blog on December 12th, 2008, I was staggering awkwardly in the footsteps of Jarrett Carter, the blogging extraordinaire that presided over this same site since [...]
AFC Playoff Picture: 12/6
After the Ravens’ heartbreaking loss last night, the AFC playoff fog is just as thick as it’s been throughout the season. As we’re waiting on the result from the pivotal Patriots-Jets matchup tonight, we’ll take a modest look at how the AFC playoff picture is turning out in the dark room that is the NFL stretch run. Bad analogies never get old.
Battle of the Best: Ravens vs. Steelers Preview
Every year, this is perhaps the most anticipated game for Ravens and Steelers fans alike. This year is no different. The scene is set for yet another great game featuring two great teams; the weather will be cold, the division title is on the line, and according to Vegas, these two teams facing off in Charm City, have the best odds to run the playoff table and bring the Lombardi Trophy to their respective homes. Entering week 13 the Baltimore Ravens and Pittsburgh Steelers are perched atop their division with ties in virtually all of the playoff tiebreakers (Division record; [...]
