Preview: The Patriots begin their latest quest for a Super Bowl ring by hosting the Baltimore Ravens in the divisional playoff round. The Ravens shocked the world by upsetting the Steelers in Pittsburgh last Saturday, a feat they had never accomplished before. They did it by turning in perhaps their finest performance of the season.

The Ravens are quite familiar with the confines of Gillette Stadium in the postseason, as they beat the Patriots on the very same field in the 2012 AFC Championship game on their way to securing a Super Bowl win. It was a rare blunder in the stellar history of postseason success the Pats have enjoyed under Bill Belichick and Tom Brady.

The Ravens are big underdogs this week as well, which is not a surprise considering the fact that may consider the Patriots to be Super Bowl favorites, and perhaps the overall best team in the NFL this season. On the back of their usual potent offense and a newly stingy defense, this is one of the more complete teams in the league.

The Ravens obviously have a chance at pulling off the upset, but it won’t be easy. They will need to play a complete game and find a way to score points against a defense that hasn’t given up many of them this season. Ultimately, it’s a very tough spot and an unlikely place for a second consecutive upset. But they’ve shocked the world before.
