The draft process for an NFL team is a long and tedious one.  Scouts keep their eyes peeled on college players year round even though the actual hype begins shortly after the NFL’s regular season ends.  We are headed into full blown draft season, an exciting time that reaches its peak when teams are officially on the clock beginning April 30th.

This year we are tracking every player that the Baltimore Ravens talk to or reportedly show interest in. Whether it be a workout, interview, team visit, or simply a rumored bit of interest, we are going to cover them all.  We’ll take a look at each prospect and discuss whether or not that particular player might represent a good pick for the Ravens.

UCLA defensive end Owamagbe Odighizuwa was a huge winner during Senior Bowl week after demonstrating his unique speed and power to continuously explode off the edge.   Odighizuwa isn’t just an edge rusher, however, possessing the size and strength to hold up in run support.  At 6’3 1/2″ and 266 pounds, the guy looks like a Greek God with his pads off.

Odighizuwa also has the long arms that scouts covet in pass rushers, even though it didn’t translate to big sack numbers in college.  Pass rushing wasn’t Odig’s job at UCLA, however, as he was tasked with sealing off the edge and playing the run.  He was expected to use his length and power to occupy blockers and seal off run lanes.  Much like one Courtney Upshaw.

Odighizuwa’s biggest concerns lie in health and whether or not he can be more than a one trick pony at the NFL level.  He missed all of 2013 after undergoing two surgeries on his left hip.  His lack of pass rush skills, including burst off the edge and change of direction skills will likely keep him out of first round discussions.  Odighizuwa’s tape tells a different story than his on field production however, and leaves some hope that he can develop into a dual threat.
