The Baltimore Ravens are in the market for a cornerback, that much we can be certain of.  The big question is, which one?  One guy who hasn’t gotten much press as a target for the team is Wake Forest’s Kevin Johnson, but that has quickly changed.  Aaron Wilson at the Baltimore Sun reports that Johnson visited with the Ravens and worked out for them this week.

Wilson also passes on word that Johnson, a projected first round pick, is “on the Ravens’ radar.”  Adding more fuel to the fire, both Mel Kiper and Todd McShay projected Johnson to the Ravens in the first round on their televised ESPN “dueling mock draft” Thursday night.  It’s a sharp turnaround from both, as neither has previously mocked him in that spot.

Needless to say, I think the Ravens would be thrilled to land Kevin Johnson with the 26th pick of the draft.  Even after signing both Lardarius Webb and Jimmy Smith to new contracts, this is a team that hasn’t had good depth at corner in a couple of years now.  If Webb rebounds in 2015, the worst case scenario is you have a talented nickel corner.

The question is, will Kevin Johnson fall to the end of the first round?  He’s drawn a ton of predraft interest so far, meeting with the Cowboys, Browns, Dolphins, Chargers, Falcons, Patriots, Cardinals, Steelers, and Eagles in addition to the Ravens.  And for good reason, as guys who can come in and immediately contribute at the cornerback position don’t exactly grow on trees.
