The 2015 season really was Marlon Brown’s big chance to shine. Injuries made the Baltimore Ravens thin at the wide receiver position. Brown ended up with just 14 catches for 112 yards. It may be time to give up on this once promising wide receiver.

Brown is a big 6’5″ receiver. The problem is he never uses his size to his advantage. He’s not a tough receiver that can consistently make contested catches. Sometimes he plays softer than Charmin Ultra Soft. He isn’t an overly fast receiver and he struggles with drops.
It is so frustrating to see how much potential he has always had and how little he has actually done. He has talent, he doesn’t seem to use it. Maybe it is a confidence problem. One thing is for sure, this isn’t a fun article to write. We all had high hopes for Brown.
Brown has never lived up to his potential. Last season the Ravens turned to other options like Chris Givens and Jeremy Butler. On a team that desperately needed a playmaker, Brown couldn’t get on the field. Brown’s untimely drops really hurt his cause.
In the 2013 season, Brown flashed talent. He caught 49 passes for 524 yards and 7 touchdowns. His game winning catch in the snowy battle against the Minnesota Vikings, was amazing. Since that one good season, Brown has caught just 38 passes and scored no touchdowns.
Next: Are The Ravens Set At Wide Receiver
There is a very real possibility that Brown does not make the team next season. Steve Smith Sr., Kamar Aiken and Mike Wallace are your top three receivers. If Breshad Perriman can play, he’s on the roster. Michael Campanaro makes five and Jeremy Butler should be number six. If the Ravens keep just six receivers it is hard to imagine Brown being one of them.
The Ravens fan base got excited about Brown. It looked like the Ravens finally found a young star receiver. Brown’s play has since deteriorated. It may be time to give up on Marlon Brown. When you look at all the Ravens options at the receiver position, he probably is the odd man out.
