John Harbaugh Got The Baltimore Ravens Ready To Roll Against The Pittsburgh Steelers

John Harbaugh’s Ravens completed a perfect rivalry weekend. On Saturday you had Alabama and LSU renew their storied rivalry in thrilling fashion. On Sunday we saw the Ravens smash the Steelers, giving the Ravens their fourth straight win against them. The Ravens were ready in this game. The defense played amazing football. The offense stayed out of it’s way just enough to secure the victory.

Harbaugh had seen his team lose four straight games. Knowing that every NFL coach has an expiration date, everyone began to wonder if the Harbaugh era had gone stale. It seemed like the Ravens were destined to commit the same mistakes every week no matter what. It felt like the bitter end of a really great relationship. Harbaugh’s seat got so hot that it practically melted.

Now the Ravens are 4-4, and yes, that’s good enough for first place in the AFC North. The entire slate of goals that the Ravens entered the season with is still a possibility. They can win the AFC North and make a playoff run. While they don’t look “super” they just need to get to the playoffs for a chance at Super Bowl glory. Resurrecting the half dead 2016 season looks more than possible. It actually looks probable.

The Ravens schedule is tough. The key thing to remember is that this team is still together. There is nobody thinking about sipping strawberry daiquiris on a Bahamas beach. There is nobody questioning the gospel of Harbaugh. This team bought in, and went all out to beat the Steelers. This is an inspired victory.

The Bottom Line:

Even more impressive is the overall lack of gloating by the Ravens. The Ravens are hungry, not satisfied. The press conferences of this game gives the feeling of a team that has to go right back to the office. There is no time to enjoy this win. There is only time to keep the good times going.

The Ravens seem to be committed to the moment. They were prepared for the Steelers game. Ben Roethlisberger, Antonio Brown and Le’Veon Bell are incredible stars. They looked like nobodies against this defense. The Ravens won this game in the first three quarters. Time ended up being the Steelers biggest enemy yesterday. The Ravens let them bleed the clock, and we got to see the most comical moment in Pittsburgh Steelers history, the onside kick so bad, it was kicked twice.

John Harbaugh may not have hand answers in the four game losing streak. However he clearly used the bye week to get the team back together as a unit. We have had plenty of ammunition to critique the veteran coach, but right now we need to give him credit. There was one team ready to play yesterday, and it was not the Pittsburgh Steelers.
