Baltimore Ravens general manager, Ozzie Newsome has always been thought of to have a preference for Alabama’s draft prospects. That thought was strengthened by the selection of Marlon Humphrey.

Before the Baltimore Ravens took Marlon Humphrey with their first round pick, we knew there was a link between Ozzie Newsome and his Alma mater. Before the draft, there was much speculation that Newsome wanted Reuben Foster. Now, could another Alabama player be on the Ravens wish list?

More Alabama Crimson Tide players could be on the radar of the Baltimore Ravens. To be fair, the Alabama prospects are on every team’s radar. The Crimson Tide have been to back to back national championship games and are contenders on a yearly basis. Nick Saban is not only the best coach in the NCAA, but he is the best recruiter.

Alabama has also produced a ton of NFL talent. The Ravens’ C.J. Mosley has not disappointed. Donta’ Hightower is one of the best linebackers in the NFL. Julio Jones is one of the best receivers the NFL has ever seen. Ha Ha Clinton-Dix, Derek Henry and Landon Collins are also examples of excellent players from the storied College Football program. Complaining about an Alabama bias is like complaining when people say the sky is blue. Some things are just true; everyone should have an Alabama bias. There is no more consistent builder of NFL talent.

Cam Robinson, Tim Williams, Ryan Anderson and Ardarius Stewart are all prospects from Alabama that are in play tonight for the Ravens.

Let’s take a look at each of these Crimson Tide prospects at a position of need:

More from Ebony Bird

  • Cam Robinson OT: Truthfully, I have cooled on Robinson. I fear that Robinson is an undisciplined player who needs to work on the fundamentals. When the draft began, many expected Robinson to go in the first round. The appeal with Robinson is that he is a big 6’6″ offensive tackle with incredible strength. Robinson is either going to be great or just be another D.J. Fluker.
  • Tim Williams OLB: Williams is a lengthy pass rusher. I could see him having a similar career to that of Elvis Dumervil. He has a lean frame and he isn’t going to be much of a defender of the run. One thing is certain though, he can put quarterbacks on their butts. Williams had 18.5 sacks in the past two seasons.
  • Ryan Anderson OLB: Anderson put up similar production to Williams. He has less length than Williams and has a little more weight. Anderson is less explosive but he is a little more sturdy against the run.
  • Ardarius Stewart WR: Stewart is a big play wide receiver. Alabama’s passing game was never overly productive but Stewart found a way to make big plays in a timely fashion. Stewart is good at breaking free down the field. He would be a nice addition to the Ravens receiving group.

The Bottom Line:

The Ravens cannot ignore Alabama talent. Alabama was quite represented in the first round of the draft and they still have a handful of draft-able prospects. The most important thing to remember is that the prospects that remain from the Crimson Tide, match the Ravens needs. Tonight, the NFL Draft gets kicked back into action. When the Ravens are on the clock, they could take one of these prospects.
