The Ravens had a spot to fill after former Giant Aaron Ross tore his achilles yesterday, and they have filled it with another former Giant, safety Will Hill.  Hill won’t be an immediate help to the Ravens as he is suspended for the first six games of the regular season, but he can practice and play in preseason games.  Aaron Wilson broke the news on Twitter.

Hill is tremendously talented and graded out as a top 5 safety in the NFL last year, so it’s no surprise another team is giving him a shot after the Giants cut him. But his current suspension for violating the substance abuse policy is his third, following previous violations of the substance abuse and PED policies.

The Giants got tired of Hill in spite of his obvious talent, so this signing is essentially a flier for the Ravens. If Hill gets himself together, it could be another brilliant move by Ozzie Newsome. If he doesn’t, the Ravens can let him walk – no harm, no foul.
