Welcome to training camp notes for today’s practice (7/25). Lots of good stuff went on today in camp, and thankfully we didn’t have another catastrophic injury.  There was a big scare when Lardarius Webb went in for some treatment, but thankfully it doesn’t appear to be anything serious.

Timmy Jernigan is already making his presence felt on the field. We predicted this guy would steal some snaps and help the Raven’s pass rush out of the gate, and so far he is doing just that.

Another guy looking good was Jimmy Smith, who had an interception of Joe Flacco today. In spite of his off field incident, Smith is on track to becoming a shut down corner.

More from Ravens News

Speaking of Smith, he doesn’t have much confidence that a contract extension will get done this offseason. Can’t blame him. The team likely has some reservations after his recent run in with the law, plus his value certainly took a hit.

Dominique Franks still isn’t practicing after showing up to camp out of shape. He needs to pass his conditioning test soon or he risks getting axed.

Another guy that risks getting the axe is Tyrod Taylor, who continues to make mistakes on the field.

The big news of the day was the Ravens signing suspended safety Will Hill. Hill is a Pro Bowl talent at the position, but is getting ready to serve his third NFL suspension. It’s a no risk signing for the Ravens, who only had to cough up the veteran minimum with no guaranteed money. They can cut him at any time and not lose a dime. Call this one a savvy signing for Ozzie Newsome that could potentially pay massive dividends if Hill gets his head on straight.

That’s all for today, stay tuned for all the latest updates!
