Welcome to Lunchtime Links, where we round up all the latest Ravens news from around the web for your convenient consumption. Today we report that Ray Rice won’t appeal his two game suspension, Dennis Pitta is back to 100% after last year’s surgery, and Bernard Pierce is ready for his big opportunity.

As expected, Ray Rice has declined to appeal his two game suspension. This is no surprise whatsoever after Rice seems to have gotten off a little light. There really isn’t much to gain with an appeal in his case, and we would imagine that Rice, the Ravens, and the NFL would like this story to go away as quickly as possible.

Dennis Pitta is one year removed from suffering a fractured and dislocated hip that required surgery, and he has declared himself 100%.  The injury, which cost Pitta twelve games last season, hasn’t given Pitta any pause so far in offseason activities.  Just another indication that Pitta’s 2014 breakout is on the horizon.

More from Ravens News

Another player ready to step up and prove himself after a lost 2013 is running back Bernard Pierce.  Pierce has what is essentially a two game audition as the starter and all the stars seem to be aligning for him as well.  Pierce came to camp in great shape and is a perfect fit for Gary Kubiak’s zone read scheme.  Whether or not he can hold on to the job once Rice comes back will be interesting to see, but he will get his share of the carries regardless.

Another Ravens running back who experienced legal trouble in the offseason expects his case to be resolved soon.  Let’s hope he keeps his nose clean going forward, because we love his potential long term.

Dominique Franks was finally cleared to practice yesterday after passing his conditioning test.  We don’t think he’s in immediate danger of getting cut, but he’s got a lot of catching up to do.  The Ravens also worked out Brandon Driver. We expect the team will continue sifting through the pile for depth at corner.
