Stock Down: Chykie Brown

Brown recently stated that he hasn’t lost confidence in camp, though you certainly can’t blame him if he has.  Brown has been by far the worst defensive back in camp, and it isn’t even close.  He has given up big play after big play and just looks shell shocked.

Brown went down with a hamstring injury Tuesday and was replaced by Asa Jackson, who immediately provided a stable presence and played admirably.  Brown’s hamstring was miraculously healed by the next day, not a minute too soon for a guy who needs to do a quick about face.

The cornerback competition is a huge opportunity for anyone who can step up right now, especially while Lardarius Webb is sidelined.  There are a lot of snaps to go around and plenty of chances for guys to prove themselves worthy of more.  So far Brown hasn’t.
