Will the real Eugene Monroe please stand up?

When the Ravens acquired Eugene Monroe from the Jaguars on the cheap last season, it seemed like a coup for a team looking to solidify the critical left tackle spot.  The Pro Bowler received the best grade of any Baltimore Raven last season according to Pro Football Focus, and the team signed him to a new 5 year, $37.5 million deal this offseason.

The problem is, Monroe hasn’t been himself through two preseason games.  He has given up three quarterback hurries in 41 snaps and has a negative grade from PFF for his limited work so far.  Monroe hasn’t been horrible by any means, but he hasn’t lived up to his contract or his reputation thus far.  It may only be the preseason, but the Ravens would surely feel more comfortable if he turned his play around Saturday night.
