Defensive linemen: Haloti Ngata, Timmy Jernigan, Brandon Williams, Chris Canty, DeAngelo Tyson

Jernigan and Williams have looked like future stars in the preseason as they seemingly live in opposing offense’s backfields.  Jernigan will play a role as a top backup along with Tyson, while Williams is the new starting nose tackle. Terrence Cody remains on PUP and may or may not be back before week 6.

Derick Hopkins drops off this week’s list and is a likely practice squad candidate.  The team is a bit thin on the d-line without him, but Pernell McPhee has experience and can slide over if needed.  Canty survives another season thanks to the many injuries that have ravaged this unit in the offseason.
