Jan 10, 2015; Foxborough, MA, USA; Baltimore Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco (5) celebrates after the Ravens

The Ravens certainly have a history of giving the Patriots fits in the playoffs, and this year’s divisional round was no exception as Baltimore jumped out to a quick and easy 14-0 lead in the first quarter.  The widely praised Patriots defense simply had no answer for Joe Flacco and Justin Forsett as the Ravens offense moved down the field with ease.

The Patriots settled down, of course, and tied the game after Tom Brady ran one in and threw one in. But a late 2nd quarter interception led to another Ravens touchdown, set up by Darrelle Revis’ first pass interference call of the entire season with Steve Smith in coverage.  Joe Flacco proceeded to hit Owen Daniels with a perfect throw in heavy traffic to put the Ravens up 21-14 at the half.

The Patriots went three and out on their first possession of the 3rd quarter.  The Ravens proceeded to drive down the field and went for it on 4th and 6.  Torrey Smith hauled in a deep Joe Flacco pass, and Justin Forsett was wide open on the next play for an easy touchdown catch.

The Patriots took advantage of an unsportsmanlike conduct flag on John Harbaugh for being out on the field and Tom Brady hit Rob Gronkowski for the touchdown to narrow the lead to 28-21.  The Pats followed up with a crazy 51 yard touchdown pass to Danny Amendola….thrown by fellow wide receiver Julian Edelman to tie it up at 28.

The Ravens retook the lead on the game’s very first field goal early in the 4th quarter, but it was short lived as Tom Brady hit Brandon LaFell with a perfect pass to give the Patriots their first lead of the game. It was do or die for the Ravens as they drove down the field and converted a 4th down, but Joe Flacco was intercepted in the end zone as he tried to hit Torrey Smith deep.  The Ravens playoff run ended as Flacco’s hail mary fell short as the clock expired.
