Welcome to the Daily Caw, where we round up all the latest Ravens news and notes from around the web. Today we reflect on last night’s instant classic that was unfortunately also a heartbreaking loss for the Ravens, Joe Flacco quotes Arnold, and looking at the team’s biggest (and most obvious) offseason priority.
Last night’s loss is obviously disappointing, but it is also amazing that the Ravens made it this far with a patchwork secondary full of undrafted free agents and cast offs from other teams. They didn’t pay the position proper attention last offseason, and it might just have cost them a shot at another title.

Joe Flacco’s Interception: “I Took My Shot”
It was a bit questionable when Flacco bet the house by throwing to the end zone on 2nd and 5 when the Ravens were down by 4 with under two minutes remaining. At that point the Ravens were moving down the field, and should have simply worked on picking up another first down while leaving little time on the clock.
Ravens Lose Despite Incredible Effort
It is hard to fault the team after they put in such a great effort, but there are a few bones to pick. Namely, the previously dominant red zone defense’s disappearing act, Elvis Dumervil’s lack of production, and a couple of questionable play calls. But the result was an instant classic and a highly entertaining game, at the very least.
The bottom line is, this team has the makings of a true contender. With Gary Kubiak now looking likely to return next season as the offensive coordinator, Jimmy Smith’s return to health, and a potentially healthy Dennis Pitta, next year is shaping up to be a good one.
