It’s still pretty early in mock draft season, but we have already established a constant theme among Ravens picks – it’s either gonna be a wide receiver or a cornerback.  Despite Ozzie Newsome’s track record of refusing to draft based on need, mock drafters everywhere continue to select players whose positions arguably fill the team’s biggest two needs.
The latest comes to us from Josh Sanchez, our fellow FanSided brethren. Â Josh likes Missouri wide receiver Dorial Green-Beckham for the 26th pick in his latest 2015 NFL mock draft, and his logic is simple but compelling.
"The Baltimore Ravens could benefit from adding more weapons to the offense. While Green-Beckham may have his fair share of concerns off the field, there is no denying the fact that he is one of the most talented players on the field in terms of pure talent in this year’s draft."
Green-Beckham is pretty likely to be a first round pick on talent alone.  I have seen him mocked as high as a top ten pick is more than one instance, so it’s questionable that he would remain on the board by the time the Ravens are ready to pick.  It is also fair to consider that DGB might slide a bit after multiple marijuana related incidents (among other transgressions) led to his dismissal from Mizzou.
It’s a dice roll, one that could prove to be the equivalent of a lottery win if Green-Beckham pans out. Dane Brugler at CBS Sports likens him to A.J. Green, which is a tremendous compliment.  This is a guy who is an absolute physical specimen of a player who possesses freakish athleticism in a long frame.  He has the hands, speed, body control, and awareness to be a top flight NFL wide receiver.
Will Dorial Green-Beckham be the latest troubled college player who pans out, a la Jimmy Smith or Tyrann Mathieu, or will he be the next Justin Blackmon or Josh Gordon? Â The risk/reward here is huge. Â Before his trangressions, DGB was widely considered a lock top 10 pick. Â Afterwards, who knows? Â For a guy who has drawn comparisons to not only Green but a guy named Randy Moss, an organization with strong leadership might just take a shot. Â An organization like the Ravens, perhaps.
