Welcome to the Daily Caw, where we round up all the latest Ravens news and notes from around the web.  Today we discuss Torrey Smith’s pre-2014 season contract offer, a Jimmy Smith legal update, key offseason events to look forward to, and the Ravens Super Bowl odds for next season.

Torrey Smith Contract Offer From Last Offseason: Fair, or Too Much?

Jason La Canfora over at CBS Sports stirred the pot yesterday when he revealed that the Ravens offered Torrey Smith a fairly hefty contract prior to the season that Smith obviously didn’t take.  I think that $7 million a year is pretty spot on, even though he experienced a decline in production last season.  Most of the Twitter reactions we got yesterday were that it is too much.  One thing’s for sure – he will be hard pressed to find a better deal in free agency this offseason.

Jimmy Smith’s Disorderly Conduct Charges Dropped

Smith can focus entirely on rehabbing his foot now that his legal charges stemming from a July incident have been dropped.  Smith refused to leave a restroom where he was reportedly helping an intoxicated woman after police instructed him to do so.

Important Upcoming Offseason Events

Sadly, the season has come to an end, but that doesn’t mean we don’t have a few things to look forward to in the near future.  The Scouting Combine is always entertaining, and begins on February 16th, one day after the Franchise/Transition Tag period begins.

Ravens 2016 Super Bowl Odds

At 30-1, the Ravens are squarely in the middle of the pack and behind teams like the Chiefs, Saints, Bengals, Steelers, and even the rebuilding 49ers.  Who the heck comes up with this stuff?
