The Baltimore Ravens wanted to bring Justin Forsett back in 2015, and Justin Forsett wanted to come back to the Ravens on a multi year deal. The two sides figured out a way to make it work just hours after it was reported that the team’s attention was focused on resigning their breakout star from 2014. Adam Schefter broke the news, and Aaron Wilson confirmed the financials of the deal via Twitter.
It’s a great deal for both sides, allowing the Ravens to pay a fair price for an aging one year wonder while also giving Forsett a little bit of continuity in a career that has seen him bounce around a good bit. It also gives Ozzie Newsome the chance to pair Forsett with a young running back via the draft, which he has previously announced his intentions to do.
I hoped all along that Justin Forsett would get a chance to prove that he wasn’t a one year wonder in Baltimore, and now he has that chance. Even with a new offensive coordinator and an uncertain role, it would seem that Forsett is still the early favorite to lead the team in carries next season. We’ll get a better handle on this backfield once the draft is over.
