Missouri linebacker Shane Ray may not have been able to run the 40 yard dash at the NFL Combine, but there is no shortage of teams in hot pursuit of the reigning SEC Defensive Player of the Year. A rising prospect thanks to his pass rushing ability, Ray has visits scheduled with four teams ahead of Missouri’s Pro Day on Thursday.
With pass rushers in such high demand among teams picking in the top ten this year, it’s looking pretty unlikely at this point that Ray will fall all the way to 26 in the draft. Currently projected as a top ten pick, Shane Ray would basically have to be a complete flop at his pro day to fall out of the top half of the first round.
Many would argue that the Ravens don’t really have a huge need for a pass rushing linebacker, but with Terrell Suggs and Elvis Dumervil on the wrong side of 30 and Pernell McPhee now in Chicago, the Ravens need to start thinking about the future. And it appears that they are doing just that ahead of next month’s draft.
