The Baltimore Ravens obviously have a need for a cornerback, and perhaps more than one. Especially considering the fact that Ozzie Newsome cited roster depth as the team’s number one need this offseason. One player that could provide value in the draft at the position is Utah corner Eric Rowe, who is scheduled to visit with the team according to Aaron Wilson at the Baltimore Sun.
Rowe is currently projected to be a 3rd or 4th round pick as a guy who has the ability to play corner or safety. He was a three year starter at safety before moving to corner his senior season. Rowe had a strong combine performance, recording a 4.45 40 yard dash, 10’5″ broad jump, and 19 reps on the bench. He has proven to be disruptive at the line of scrimmage and a solid tackler.
The biggest knocks on Eric Rowe are his lack of deep speed and recovery skills, as well as change of direction. Rowe is limited as a man cover corner, but he is a good fit for the right scheme. If the Ravens feel like he is a schematic fit, Rowe could provide great value in the 3rd or 4th round. He may never be a shadow corner, but he can bring some play making spark and physicality to a secondary that sorely needs it.
