‘Tis the season for mock drafts, and I thought it might be interesting to see who the internet is saying the Ravens will take with the 26th pick in the first round.  So I trolled around and added up the numbers.  Keep in mind, this is a collection of mock drafts from across the internet, including expert mocks as well as amateur, and I tried to use only mocks updated March 25th or later.

Obviously, we really have no idea who the Ravens will draft, and as our own Brett Foote has pointed out, the Ravens are blowing smoke on their draft plans.  But hey, it’s always fun to speculate, right?

After looking at over 40 mocks across the internet to come up with our 2015 NFL mock draft analysis, here’s what I found (number of mocks in parentheses):

Consensus Pick:

(8) Breshad Perriman, WR UCF

(7) Jaelen Strong, WR Arizona State

(4) Jalen Collins, CB LSU

(4) Melvin Gordon, RB Wisconsin

(3) Dorial Green-Beckham, WR Oklahoma

(2) Arik Armstead, DE Oregon

(2) Todd Gurley, RB Georgia

(2) Marcus Peters, CB Washington

(1) Landon Collins, S Alabama

(1) Ronald Darby, CB Florida State

(1) Devin Funchess, WR Michigan

(1) Eddie Goldman, DT Florida State

(1) Eli Harold, OLB Virginia

(1) Quinten Rollins, CB Miami of Ohio

(1) Maxx Williams, TE Minnesota

(1) Yuri Wright, CB Colorado

Picks by position:

WR (20)

CB (12)

RB (6)

DT (2)

DE (2)

OLB (1)

S (1)

TE (1)

Pick Gaining the Most Steam Recently:

Breshad Perriman, WR UCF

After an impressive Pro day in which he posted 40-yard dash times of 4.24 and 4.27 seconds, Perriman has shot up draft boards and appears to be the pick gaining the most steam for the Ravens.  They have been unsuccessful drafting wide receivers in the first round in years past (Mark Clayton and Travis Taylor), and Ravens coach John Harbaugh recently stated that the Ravens don’t necessarily need to take a receiver in the first round.  However, Perriman certainly fills a need and makes sense at the spot they are drafting.  I think Perriman to the Ravens will continue to be the popular pick up until draft day.

What This All Means:

Clearly the Ravens are thin at receiver and corner, and the internet agrees.  Depending on how the draft shakes out, they should have their pick of either Jaelen Strong, Perriman, or Dorial Green-Beckham at receiver, Marcus Peters, Jalen Collins, or Kevin Johnson at corner, and possibly even Todd Gurley or Melvin Gordon at running back.

Of course, the Ravens could also stick to their strong suit and get a quality pass rusher in Arik Armstead if he falls.  The Ravens have a strong history of drafting defense in the first round, and for my money, I think they should skip offense and pick a pass rusher or corner.  Armstead would be a steal at 26 and of course there is always the troubled corner Marcus Peters.  Of course, not a single person doing any of these mocks will be in the Ravens war room on draft day.  But that doesn’t make speculating any less fun.
