After news broke yesterday that the Baltimore Ravens were inviting a pair of safeties to their local prospect day on April 21st, it was pretty obvious that many more would follow.  And now the Baltimore Sun is passing along word that Maryland center Sal Conaboy and outside linebacker Matt Robinson have been invited to work out for the team as well.

Conaboy was a three year starter for the Terps with 35 starts under his belt.  He was an All-Big Ten Conference selection, won the Big Ten Sportsmanship Award, and was on the Rimington Trophy preseason watch.  Conaboy was part of a Terps’ offense that eclipsed the 3,000 yard passing mark in his junior season, which was the first time Maryland did it since 1994.

Robinson is a converted safety who goes 6’4″ and 247 pounds.  He recorded a 4.6 second 40, a 34 inch vertical, and a 10-1 broad jump at Maryland’s pro day.  Robinson was also an All-Big Ten selection and racked up 73 tackles, including 10 for loss, in his first season at OLB in his junior year.  Injuries caused him to miss six games last season.

While either prospect would be a nice add for the Ravens, Robinson is a bit of an intriguing player.  He made a very smooth transition to OLB after playing safety much of his career and appeared to be a bit of a natural, but he still needs to develop some lower body strength to play the position effectively at the next level.
