We haven’t heard much on the Jalen Collins front in regards to the possibility that the Baltimore Ravens might draft him since I made Collins the pick in my mock draft. But now we have learned that the LSU cornerback has already met with the Ravens, as reported to the Baltimore Sun.
Collins was unable to work out at LSU’s pro day after he underwent surgery to repair a foot fracture, but he did run the 40 in 4.48 and recorded a 36 inch vertical leap at the NFL Combine. Collins is a big, physical corner at 6’1″ and 199 pounds, but only has 10 career starts under his belt.
That limited experience isn’t holding Collins back, however. In the seven games he started last season, Collins allowed only a 35% completion percentage to opposing quarterbacks, and racked up 10 passes defensed. It’s that enticing potential that has him in the conversation as a potential first round pick.
Jalen Collins also possesses a rare combination of height, speed, and weight for a corner. His raw talent and natural qualities compensate for his lack of experience and the simple fact that his technique is still a work in progress. Teams like the Ravens, who can afford to let him earn snaps and learn, should be interested in him.
