Missouri Outside Linebacker Shane Ray to Visit Baltimore Ravens

The Baltimore Ravens haven’t thrown dirt on the possibility that they might take a pass rusher in the upcoming NFL Draft, and rightfully so. With an aging pair of outside ‘backers in Terrell Suggs and Elvis Dumervil, there’s nothing wrong with looking to the future at this point.

The Baltimore Sun is reporting that the Ravens are meeting with one of the most talented pass rushing prospects in the draft, Missouri’s Shane Ray. Ray has already met with the Ravens at the NFL’s Scouting Combine, and has upcoming visits with a number of other teams as well.

Ray, a defensive end in college, racked up 13.5 sacks and 20.5 tackles for a loss last season alone. The 6’3″, 245 pound Ray was unable to run at the NFL Combine but has flashed serious speed in the past with a 40 time of 4.44 seconds. He simply has the skills, motor, and drive to succeed at the NFL level, which is a big reason why he has rocketed up draft boards.

Shane Ray just doesn’t have many weaknesses to note, outside of his length. He is relentless in his pursuit and possesses elite power, strength, and explosion. If, and it’s a bit if, Ray falls far enough for the Ravens to snatch him up, it might just be the steal of the century.
