We may be in full blown lying season in regards to what is going to happen in the upcoming NFL Draft, but that doesn’t mean that there isn’t some truth floating around. While it may be hard to swallow that the Baltimore Ravens could spend the 26th pick of the draft on a running back, at least one guy thinks that they will (given the opportunity, of course) – Sport Illustrated’s Peter King.
Seemingly buried in King’s latest Monday Morning Quarterback article is an interesting tidbit.
"Melvin Gordon will not get past Baltimore at No. 26"
Now that’s not just someone saying that they think something will happen, nor is it followed or preempted by any sort of disclaimer. King sounds pretty darn sure that the talented running back may not make it to the Ravens at 26, and if he does, they will take him off the board.
It’s an interesting declaration considering the Ravens’ draft history and their recent infatuation with corners and pass rushers during the predraft process. But as we know by now, Ozzie and Co. will take the best player available to them, no matter what happens. Is it possible that Melvin Gordon will be that high on their board? Only time will tell.
