The pick is in!

The Baltimore Ravens have selected UCF WR Breshad Perriman with the 26th pick in the first round of the 2015 NFL Draft.

After casting smokescreens the past month, the Ravens went with a wide receiver in the first round.  Perriman should immediately step into the starting lineup and serve as a big play threat for Joe Flacco.

Wide receiver became a position of need after the Ravens let Torrey Smith walk in free agency.  They haven’t had much success drafting receivers in the first round, but hope their luck changes here.

Breshad Perriman is an athletic freak.  He’s 6’2, 214 lbs and ran a 4.2 40 at the combine.  He has all the intangibles you would want in a receiver with a quick burst and big play potential.

The knock on Perriman is that he’s unpolished.  He’s raw in his route-running and dropped eight of 54 catchable passes last year.

The natural skill is there, but Breshad Perriman does need some work.  He needs to develop his route-running and football IQ.  If he can better his concentration and take care of those dropped passes, Perriman could fill a vital role on this Ravens squad as an explosive, big-play receiver.

The Ravens have the no. 58 and no. 90 picks in the second and third rounds tomorrow.
