The Baltimore Ravens have selected Iowa DT Carl Davis with the 26th pick (90th overall) in the third round.

Predicted to go in the first round in some mock drafts, Carl Davis took a tumble on draft day and landed in the Ravens’ lap in the third round as another big body to fill the void of departed DT Haloti Ngata.  At 6’5, 320 lbs Davis brings a massive frame to the defensive front.  Davis has decent pass rushing ability and should be able to stuff the run.  He had a great senior bowl week and combine with a 33″ vertical jump.

One of the possible reasons for his fall: lack of production.  Davis tended to run out of gas late in games and get stuck in place.  Joining the defensive line rotation in Baltimore could be the perfect place for him.  He’ll pair with last year’s first round pick Timmy Jernigan and second year player Brandon Williams to form a young, talented group of defensive tackles for the Ravens.

Baltimore got great value with this pick and continues to build on its excellent draft.
