The Standard: Chris McAllister

McAlister is someone you can say paved the way for what a Ravens cornerback should play like. The former 1st round pick is the longest tenured cornerback in franchise history. McAlister, over the course of 10 seasons as a Raven, played in a total of 135 games and recorded 339 tackles, 89 passes deflected, 26 interceptions for a gain of 486 yards returned, and 5 touchdowns.

His career spanned across the entire reign of Brian Billick and the first year of John Harbaugh and includes a Super Bowl win, 2 All-Pro selections, and 3 Pro Bowl selections. Aside from the two games he played for New Orleans Saints at the tail end of his career, Chris McAlister is without a doubt a true pioneer at the cornerback position, and in the heart of Ravens fans, a Raven for life.

The Future: Jimmy Smith

This past offseason, Jimmy Smith signed a contract extension worth $48 million over 4 years. Why? Because over the last 4 seasons (barring injuries) that Smith has been a Raven, he’s been the poster child for what continuous improvement looks like.
