2014 Production: 37 tackles, 17 sacks, 2 forced fumbles, 1 fumble recovery

Dooommmm had a heck of a season in 2014, tying his career best year for sacks (2009).  It’s also only the second time he’s had double digit sacks after he recorded 11 in 2011, and the fourth time in his ten year career.  Can he buck the trend and break double digits in consecutive years for the first time?

That history, combined with his age (31) might tell you no.  Dumervil also no longer has the advantage of playing alongside Haloti Ngata, who occupied multiple blockers in the middle of the defense last season. Timmy Jernigan might be just as good or better, but that remains to be seen.

The same goes for his running mate, Terrell Suggs, who had a stellar year himself in 2014.  Suggs’ effectiveness is a boon for Doom and when both are playing at the top of their game, it forces defenses to pay extra attention to multiple players.  Dumervil probably has a couple more good seasons in him, but hitting 17 sacks again probably isn’t in the cards.
