The Ravens have by and large had a pretty quiet offseason, which is a good thing considering how turbulent last year began.  One of the few blips of negativity on the team’s radar occurred when Terrell Suggs showed up mandatory minicamp a little out of shape.

But as expected, Suggs came into training camp looking a little slimmer and passed his conditioning test with no problem.  Truthfully, it’s not the first time the 32 year old has shown up to camp a little heavy, and it probably won’t be the last.  So long as he is in shape in time for week one, it really doesn’t matter anyway.

The media was obviously a bit surprised by Suggs’ refusal to speak on Tom Brady following the NFL’s decision to uphold his DeflateGate suspension.  Suggs has a history of trash talking Brady, and never even mentions him by name.

Suggs gave a PC answer when asked about the Patriots, which admittedly pretty refreshing.  He also admitted that it’s nice to roll into camp with no negative storylines dangling over the team after last season’s Ray Rice scandal.

Yesterday we touched on the Kamar Aiken vs. Breshad Perriman showdown for the WR2 spot, a battle that Aiken is winning thus far.  But Perriman told the press Wednesday that he has made ‘tremendous progress’ adjusting to the speed of the pro game and in learning the playbook.  And sure enough, he lined up as a starter on day one of training camp.

And then proceeded to leave with a slight leg injury, that thankfully isn’t serious.

Perriman has the obvious talent edge, but Aiken is no slouch either.  Aiken has a leg up after earning his way onto the roster and into a fairly substantial role last season.  This position battle is easily one of the most intriguing in camp.
