We were hoping for a clean, injury free training camp (at least no catastrophic injuries, anyway), but it looks like those hopes are already dashed.  Matt Elam appears to be headed to IR after suffering a biceps tear, an unfortunate freak injury for the former first round bust.

Meanwhile, the Ravens are taking it easy with some key players who have suffered minor injuries.  John Harbaugh has said that Elvis Dumervil and Breshad Perriman are not going to practice again until they are 100% after Dumervil had a bout with tendinitis and Perriman bruised his knee.

Joining them on the injury front are a pair of cornerbacks – Tray Walker and Rashaan Melvin, who both tweaked their hamstrings.

The news isn’t all bad coming out of training camp, as a number of players are making serious impressions.  In Perriman’s absnece, Kamar Aiken and Jeremy Butler have shined.

The new look Ravens defensive front three of Timmy Jernigan, Carl Davis, and Brandon Williams is looking fearsome and shutting down the run.

Kendrick Lewis is emerging as a much needed leader in the secondary.  He’s taking command of a group that can really benefit from some veteran leadership.

It’s all great news regarding the Ravens’ biggest areas of concern heading into the preseason.

And speaking of the preseason, we’re taking a look at some early predictions for the first wave of roster cuts.  This year looks like those cuts will be harder than ever for the Ravens’ brain trust with a talented and deep roster at hand.
