The NFL is a tough, cruel, unforgiving place.  Players generally have a short shelf life, and they are on the hot seat pretty much every week.  This is especially true for unproven players who are simply fighting for their careers on a limited number of opportunities.

But sometimes players are kept around for an exceedingly long time, no matter how poor their play. This is often the case with “name” players, or those who come with a lofty draft status.  Teams just don’t want to give up and admit that they made a mistake in the draft.

The Baltimore Ravens and general manager Ozzie Newsome have a long history of drafting and signing players who produce great returns, but like everyone else in this world, they aren’t perfect.  There have been a few mistakes, with several of them still toiling on the roster.

Will this be the year we finally see the Ravens give up on some of these players?  Newsome’s comments this offseason seem to indicate a growing sense of impatience, so this might just be the final audition for a number of once highly regarded players.

Let’s take a look at three Ravens in particular who are, quite literally, on the roster bubble this offseason.
