Zach Orr, Inside Linebacker

Orr was a surprise roster keep last offseason, and it was an even bigger surprise that he appeared in 15 games.  The majority of that action came on special teams, where Orr racked up 8 tackles and became a core component of the Ravens’ strong unit.

This offseason, Orr has grown as a defensive player and has made a real impression on coaches with his improved play.  Orr has a nose for the ball and has played well in coverage through camp.

Even though Orr is unlikely to see much time on defense in 2015, he is a core special teamer, meaning that his roster spot is probably secure.

Even still, Orr might be viewed as the eventual successor to Daryl Smith, who is entering his 12th season.  The Ravens can afford to bring him along slowly, and I actually think Orr’s future is brighter than former second round pick Arthur Brown at this point.
