The preseason, more specifically the first week of the preseason, is often a huge letdown for football fans.  But the weekend was full of solid games and interesting developments.  The Ravens’ win over the Saints was no exception, going down to the wire with an exciting finish.

The performance of the Ravens’ offense in particular drew some rave reviews from many, particularly the performance of Joe Flacco on the first drive.  It’s a good foundation performance for the Ravens as they break in another new offensive coordinator, even though the running game couldn’t find much traction.

Of course, the Ravens were without Breshad Perriman in their preseason opener.  The prized first rounder hasn’t practiced since “bruising” his knee back on July 30th.  Perriman’s absence has obviously been a concern, particularly since he has been labeled as a bit raw coming out of college.

Ravens’ head coach John Harbaugh is maintaining his optimistic view of Perriman’s outlook, however. Harbaugh told reporters that he remains hopeful that the speedy wideout will return at some point during the preseason.

In the meantime, we’ll keep our fingers crossed and hope that Perriman can catch up quickly, and do so soon.
